"Visual Portals" and other non-standard spaces.

Will the engine support things like portals, such as, for sake of argument, a telephone box that is larger on the inside, or magical portals to distant locations?

    No such plans, although this is definitely another thing that modders could attempt. It really only involves rendering the scene from two camera angles, and applying one rendering as a texture map into another (simplest case, just textured to a quad). If you wanted that interesting parallax effect, you could just tie one camera movement to another, and render the two scenes, with the portal scene masked over the real world scene. This way when you step through the portal, you would not be bumping into a textured quad and clipping it. Now you've got my gears grinding....great. :)
